Here we are!

Well.

Here we go.

I have no idea how often I shall update this, or how relevant it will be to my interests, but Kalrender's achievement blog totally reinspired me. First it was WoWinsider, and now Kalrender... bah!

So a little bit about me:

I'm Katalyna... most folks call me Kat. I play a lvl 70 (soon to be levelling to 80!) Draenai Shaman on the Thaurissan Oceanic server. My Shaman is Elemental. (That was a gimme, eh? :P) I love the elemental spec! I've decided to start up a blog to get my thoughts about the spec, the class, and everything else about the game down in my own little corner of the world wide web. This is yet another attempt at blogging on my part, or live journal-ing, or anything - I generally 'forget' about them :p But this subject is fairly close to my heart so maybe I'll continue it.

Why do I play a shaman?

No doubt, that is the question many shamans are asking themselves, regardless of spec. Blizzard hasn't done much in the way of helping us lately, especially in terms of talents. Enhancement's wolves are kinda meh, Riptide is ok-ish, and Elemental doesn't scale too well at the level 80 Endgame. Ghostcrawler has promised us a polish, especially in terms of Elemental, so I'm holding my breath and not looking at changing mains... yet. (Although I do have an affliction lock I adore!)

I first started playing WoW back in 2004 in closed beta. I made a night elf rogue originally, and had a lot of fun goofing around on her... hit 60, did the instances, started raiding MC - yadda yadda, much like many others. The guild I was in needed warriors, so I made a warrior, then the same thing with a druid. It wasn't until I started to level my warlock that I realized I didn't really like my warrior much. And then I became innately fascinated with the boomchicken... and I slowly began to understand that my destiny in MMO's wasn't to melee, tank, or heal... it was to be ranged dps!

Fast forward to a little over a year after TBC came out and I was dinging 70 on my baby shaman who I had fallen for -big time-. I quit playing my warlock (I was a -good- lock too!) to take up the mantle of the "Mistress of the Elements"! as I style it. I haven't looked back since, and I'm hoping to continue with it.

So there's that! I hope that you'll enjoy reading this blog. I'll go into all kinds of information about my shaman, about the elemental spec, where to find the mathcrafting (I leave that to the folks on the EJ forums... maths make my head hurt!) and also probably jibber jabber about the various achievements and goodies that I'm after on my shaman.

Welcome!
